Welcome to the very first edition of the Mass Media Design newsletter!
I like to keep in touch with our customers. I’m a big believer in word-of-mouth PR and business networking and if I meet someone that we think you would be able to help then I’ll make a point of mentioning your name.
Andy and I have decided that we should do more to keep in contact with our customers. There’s only so much you can discuss in an email or a telephone conversation until you begin to sound a little bit self-obsessed. So, we thought that a regular email newsletter would be a good way to keep you up to date with what we’re doing here at MMD.
As a bit of a hook to keep you reading, each month we’ll be providing you with some great advice about how to get the most out of your website. Most companies now have websites and the next thing they’re looking towards is how to get the most out of it. Our monthly hints and tips section will help you get a head start on the competition – and it’s all free! Amazing!

MMD Rebrand
The last few months have seen big changes for us as a company. After another successful trading year we thought it was time that we took a step back and looked at the business. We wanted to see where we had been successful, where we could improve and try to see how our brand appeared to casual visitors.
Website design is by far the most popular service that we offer but we realised that we weren’t offering any services to help our clients get the most out their website. We decided to introduce a new service called Internet Marketing, which is covered in more detail below but which can help turn your website into one of your major marketing tools.
We also felt it was the right time to freshen the company brand and re-evaluate our website. Our old website was fine but we concluded that it was a bit cold and impersonal and not reflective of our personalities. We decided that it should have a warmer, more down-to-earth feel to it.
We took these principles forward as we re-branded the company and redesigned our company logo and website (http://www.massmediadesign.co.uk) using much warmer colours and images. We re-wrote the content in a more relaxed, personal style that allowed us to explain much more clearly what we do and what benefit we can bring to other businesses; we even added pictures of Andy and myself.
Finally, we added our company blog to the site (http://www.massmediadesign.co.uk/blog). We’ll talk in a future newsletter about why blogging and having regular content written for your business is a good thing for Google.
We’d love to hear your comments about the changes we’ve made so please drop us an email.

New Services
As we mentioned earlier, we have introduced a new service: Internet Marketing.
There are millions of websites out there and regardless of how good your website is, unless you promote it effectively it’s not going to be doing much for your company.
Google is one of the biggest providers of visitors to websites but it’s estimated that only a small percentage of searchers will ever go beyond the first couple of search result pages. A recent survey showed that if your website is on the first page of Google then you can expect nine times the amount of traffic you would get if you were on page two.
Our Internet Marketing service helps get your website optimised for Google. Simply put, we work with you to identify the main search terms that you would like your website to appear in Google for and then optimise your website to drive it up the search results.
The way Google rates a website is based on many factors, many of which have nothing to do with your website but actually to do with other websites. Our service uses other websites to make your website popular in Google’s eyes. If your website is popular then Google will rate it highly in its search results.
As well as focusing on driving traffic to your website, we also look at converting the website traffic to your website into customers for your business. Usually a visitor will need to visit your website a few times before they will buy something from you so we identify ways in which you can encourage your visitors to return frequently. We also look at how easily your website makes it easy to buy from you – your website needs to have a goal and we evaluate how easy it is for your visitors to find that goal. As part of our service we track the activity of each user visiting your website, what pages they visit and how long they stay there which gives us some hard data on the behaviour of your website visitors.
For more information on our new service, visit our Internet Marketing page at http://www.massmediadesign.co.uk/Internet-marketing.aspx
Special Offers
One way to attract people back to your website is to offer, special discounts and we’re no different. To celebrate the launch of our new brand and service, we’re offering a free, no-obligation website analysis where we’ll look at your website and see if there are things that can be done to help drive more traffic to your site.
We’re also offering 25% off our typical rates for any of our services. So whether you need a website redesign, internet marketing, website consultancy or any other service that we offer, you’ll get a 25% discount off the usual cost.
Website Tips For Your Business
You may be wondering why we spent time personalising our website?
Our view is that people buy products and services from people that they trust.
It’s impossible to gain trust from website visitors if you’re just a faceless company, but if your website has quotes, pictures and articles showing your experience then you’re more likely to at least begin gathering some kind of trust from your visitors.
It’s a common statement that people don’t buy products, they buy people – meaning that if they like you then they’ll be much more likely to buy from you. Therefore you should try to get your personality across in your website.
It doesn’t have to take much effort – you could start the ball rolling just by adding a few pictures of yourself and perhaps a statement on the front page from someone in your business about what your unique selling point is.
Once you get visitors coming to your website then you have to work hard to turn them into customers – if they think that they can trust you then they’ll be more likely to buy from you.
