One of the (many) criteria that Google uses to establish where to place your
website in the search results is by the number of other websites that link to
your website.
The more websites linking to you, the more popular Google deems your website to
be and hence the higher placing you get.
Of course, it's not quite that simple.
For a start, if the website linking to you is popular then that is a more
valuable link than a website that is less popular. Also, if the website is
relevant (i.e. a partner website or a associate website) then that is more
useful than a website that isn't relevant.
Therefore the aim of off-site optimisation is to get links from popular, relevant
websites pointing to your website. As well as having links pointing to
you, they would ideally be optimised around your keywords.
However, like many aspects of SEO you have to be careful that you're not seen to
be trying to manipulate the results in a dubious fashion. Many SEO
companies will offer thousands of links pointing to your website but if those
websites have been blacklisted by Google then your website will be flagged and
possibly even removed from Google.
You need an SEO company that can obtain links from useful websites that are
relevant, but not in a way that puts your own website at risk.
Mass Media Design's ethical SEO service
ensures that your website will not be placed at risk and that we will be aiming
to get the most high quality links available for your website.
