How to optimise your title tags
I was asked on Twitter to share some ‘best practice’ tips on web site title tags. And so I did – in 4 tweets. I thought that I’d share them with you as a very simple primer on how to start optimising the title tags on your website:
@GinaRubel Keep it under 66 characters, important keywords near the front, Don’t repeat too much but perhaps repeat your main keyword twice about 19 hours ago from web in reply to GinaRubel
@GinaRubel Don’t worry too much about your company name unless you have a strong brand. And choose your keywords carefully! HTH! about 19 hours ago from web in reply to GinaRubel
@GinaRubel Yes, make every page relevant to the content. No duplication – same goes for the “meta description” tag, if you have one. about 19 hours agofrom web in reply to GinaRubel
@GinaRubel You’re trying to make it clear to Google what the page is about. If there are duplicate title tags then it’s not clear. about 19 hours ago from webin reply to GinaRubel
I was planning on expanding on the tweets in this post, but in fact there isn’t that much else to say! Any questions then you know where the comments are – I’ll be happy to help!
